National Year of Reading Wales 2008 Conference
12 Feb 2009 Thursday 12th February 2009 saw the National Year of Reading in Wales 2008 Conference take place in Cardiff. Special guest speakers included the Education Minister, Jane Hutt who addressed the conference about the successes of the year and the importance of reading as a building block not only in children’s lives but for adults also.
Club 08 Party – Celebrating together
26 Jan 2009 Fify young people from five of Pembrokeshire’s Clybiau 08: 08 Clubs clubs came together recently for a party at the West Wales Arts Centre in Fishguard to celebrate their achievements as participants in an all Wales project, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government’s National Year of Reading programme.

Minister’s challenge met!
9 Dec 2008 At the beginning of the National Year of Reading in Wales, the Education Minister Jane Hutt challenged the people of Wales to arrange 2,008 reading events and activities throughout the year. The public responded with great enthusiasm and set about organising a wide range of events which has seen the target met and passed.

20 Nov 2008 To celebrate the National Year of Reading in Wales, which is coordinated by the Welsh Books Council, ten pupils from Ysgol Glan Y Môr in Pwllheli joined together to form the 08 Club – Dreigiau Coch.
Calling all Reading Groups in Wales!
19 Nov 2008 The National Year of Reading in Wales is calling all reading groups to stand up and be counted. Co-ordinated by the Welsh Books Council, the National Year of Reading in Wales is trying to find as many reading groups in Wales as possible in order to produce a list online so people can log on and find out where their nearest group is to join.

12 Nov 2008 The Merched y Wawr National quiz was held in every region throughout Wales last week, and even though every team were eager to answer the questions and were aspired to win the £100, two branches hit the jackpot and won a £100 for their branch.
