National Year of Reading Wales 2008 Conference

Thursday 12th February 2009 saw the National Year of Reading in Wales 2008 Conference take place in Cardiff. Special guest speakers included the Education Minister, Jane Hutt who addressed the conference about the successes of the year and the importance of reading as a building block not only in children’s lives but for adults also.

National Year of Reading 2008

The National Year of Reading was coordinated in Wales by the Welsh Books Council, with funding from the Welsh Assembly Government.

This website has been archived in order to provide a record of the Year’s activity. Click on any of the links to browse the site and find out more.

Two reports were commissioned to evaluate the Year and these can be read by clicking on the following links: internal report; external report.

An end of year conference was held in Cardiff on 12 February 2009, which gave the Year’s partners an opportunity to showcase their achievements. To see photos of the conference, click here.
